1. Do I need a prescription/referral from a doctor for Physical Therapy?
No. In the state of Wisconsin, we have direct access for Physical Therapy services.
After your initial evaluation, there may be reasons your therapist would
recommend you see a physician, and will advise you to do so. Additionally,
certain insurance companies may require a physcian referral in order to pay for
treatment. We recommend you contact your insurance company prior to beginning physical
therapy and asking if a physician referral is needed for physical therapy.
2. Does my insurance pay for physical therapy?
Typically insurance does cover anywhere from 50-100% of Physical Therapy costs
after your deductible is satisfied. Although nearly every insurance plan has some coverage, there is high
variability from plan to plan. We will be happy to contact your insurance
company prior to your first visit to check on your exact benefits. Additionally, we encourage patients to have an understanding of their
benefits/coverage by contacting your insurance carrier and getting specific
information.
3. What types of injuries do Physical Therapists treat?
At Body in Balance Physical Therapy, our therapists specialize in treating
orthopedic injuries and problems. This would include neck or low back pain,
hip, knee, ankle, and foot problems. Upper extremity problems, such as shoulder, elbow and wrist injuries, are also
problems we commonly help people with. We also perform post-operative
rehabilitation for total knee/hip replacements, ACL reconstruction, and rotator
cuff repair.
Additionally our Physical Therapists are experts at analyzing posture and
movement, so it is a great idea to consult with us before starting a new
exercise program. By maximizing flexibility, identifying postural faults and muscle imbalances
before you start a program, you can maximize your workout and prevent overuse
injuries down the road.
4. What can I expect on my first visit?
Your physical therapist will get specific information about your problem from
speaking with you. A biomechanical evaluation of your musculoskeletal system
will then be performed to determine exactly what course of treatment is appropriate. Treatment is started at that first visit based on the therapist's findings
during the examination.
5. What appointment times are available to schedule Physical Therapy?"
At Body in Balance, we will make every attempt to accommodate your schedule. We are available Monday-Friday and have early morning, lunch hour, and early
evening/after work appointments available.
6. How long is a typical treatment session?
Our physical therapy sesssions are typically 45-60 minutes long. Nearly all of that time will be one-on-one with your physical therapist. We feel strongly that this model of care provides for the fastest recovery from
your problem.
7. Who will be working with during the treatment sessions?
Unlike many rehabilitation clinics, your entire treatment will be performed by a
licensed physical therapist. Body in Balance does not utilize P.T. Assistants, athletic trainers (L.A.T./
ATC's) , nor aides/technicians to do any treatment. Additionally, you will consistently work the same physical therapist on
subsequent visits, allowing for the fastest progression and resolution of your
problem/injury.
